Computer Music Review

Sample Magic's new 'white label' release is a 730MB collection of loops and hits on the deeper, more dystopian side of techno, with the former at 120,125 and 130bpm. It's moody, understated stuff, with the drums favouring atmosphere over power, the basslines making good use of reverb and delay in their basement-rumbling sensibility, and the arpeggiated and sequenced synth lead lines crackling with tension. We particularly like the granular loops, however, which 4E4+1 overdo the glitchiness. Lots of highly usable stuff for the money.
