It’s been a while since we herded up the print and online reviews of Sample Magic products so here’s a quick rundown of what the pro audio press have had to say about products new and old.
Take a read and don’t forget to leave your feedback too.
A blast from the recent past comes in the form of SM20 Electro (our last product made available in DVD format) as reviewed in Recording Magazine. They loved the basslines in particular, referring to them as “pure electronic heaven” and “the crown jewel of the collection” – so take note bass freaks! It was great to hear they enjoyed the bonus DVD content (including a behind the scenes video and stacks of bonus samples), summing up “Electro would be a great value for the data DVD alone; the added materials give it even more bang for the buck.”
Recording Magazine also explored one of our more recent Sample Magic Presents collections, diving head-first into the disco house sound of Hed Kandi. And they seemed to enjoy what they heard: “The recordings are impeccable and the loops are clean and beautifully matched; I didn’t hear a clinker in the bunch.” The instrument loops were particularly popular “from horn section lines and silkily romantic electric piano chords to unspeakably funky clavs, throbbing string synths, and slick modern touches like vocoder arpeggios.” Wow!
Future Music got their hands dirty with one of our recent best-sellers, Defected House Samples, and surmised “every layer you build instantly feels like a much-loved house classic that somehow passed you by at the time. Superb. 9/10.” which had us and creator of the collection, ATFC, grinning from ear to ear.
The guys at Future Music looked to get themselves into the summer mood by roadtesting SM29 Chillwave – and it seemed to work: “This slo-mo, super-smooth collection of grooves makes us wish for summer as it offers warm, boozy kicks with plenty of laid-back grooves that wind down the tempo.” They also had a special mention for “the superb ‘heavy on the effects’ live drums that team so perfectly with classic dry and effected Linn and DMX.” Glad you enjoyed it guys!
Finally, there’s just enough time to squeeze in a mention for SM101 and Sylenth1 Techno Patches which was described as “A veritable techno toolbox – a masterfully produced, wonderfully eclectic set of sounds that every Sylenth user should have on their hard drive”. This was our first release for the ever-popular soft synth so to grab a 9/10 review from Future Music was a great start to our Sylenth series.
