"Minimal and tech-house is officially the new electro, so it’s no surprise that a slew of sample collections are coming to the market to meet demand. And ‘Minimal & Tech-House’ from Sample Magic is a fine collection. Pick of the bunch are the percussive loops and single-hit percussion sounds, but there are also bass and other musical loops too. They are all expertly and intricately produced and offer some useful and very current sounding material to sample.

The nice sonic quality means this collection should enjoy much more broad-ranging appeal. And sampling is made very easy, thanks to the large variety of formats catering for Rex, Wav, Reason NN-XT, Halion, Kontakt, EXS 24, RMX and Apple Loops. There is even an audio CD version, allowing you to sit back and audition samples while driving or getting on with other things. All in all, this is a really great collection and one that will retain its usefulness long after the genre that spawned it has passed into history. Verdict: 5/5."

The contributing producers are obviously familiar with the conventions of the genres, and the samples are all of a high standard. The music and synth loops – usually the least useful aspects of these libraries – are tastefully done and quite inspirational, as are the drum loops and the always-important individual drum hits. Minimal & Tech-House would make a great investment for anyone making deeper dance music. 9/10."
