This massive library is the successor to the original Sunset Sessions and builds on the original's collections of beats, Rhodes, basslines and guitars by adding more esoteric instruments such as violins, Wurlitzers and glockenspiels into the mix. The pack contains 1GB of 24-bit audio in Wav, Apple Loops, Rex2 and Style RMX formats plus several patches for NN-XT, HALion, Knotakt and EXS24.

More than 80 hours of material was sifted through to compile the library and it really shows, a the quality and variety is stunning. Whether you're after a more commerical Groove Armada sound, traditional Nightmares on Wax / Bonobo beats or a quirky Foltronica glitchiness a la Fourtet, there's plenty here for you to get your teeth into.

The folders are divided by instrument and then further in 80, 90 and 100bpm loops of jazzy bass, deep tinkling bells, great effected guitar riffs and upbeat sax and trumpet melodies. However, the most impressive sections are the massive folders of lo-fi beats and piano loops. "Sample Magic's newest release 'Sunrise Sessions SM13' is the latest in the popular 'Sunset Sessions' series, which intends to give the producer all the tools required to dip into the downtempo genre. The latest instalment is a very involved collection of samples covering laidback grooves, electric pianos, jazz-style trumpets and ready-mixed melodies that will combine to create the perfect lounge-style tune.

The rhythms and beats are what producers would expect: solid and involved with the realistic hum of old vinyl to add to the effect. We also get the kicks and drum hits separately to build groove tracks from scratch. The best thing about this collection is the instrumental riffs. It’s possible to choose from melodic evolving strings, guitars and saxophones — just add a drumbeat! The various piano-related samples cover a good variety, from electric pianos to lazy Wurlitzer licks. The musical one-shots are little stabs, combining moving filtered synth lines and pulsating leads, placing us straight in the atmospheric territory of Blade Runner.
