Another busy week packed with top-notch sample action.
First up we're pleased to announce the release of SMP06 Thomas Schumacher: Berlin Techno, 300+MB of dark and driving loops and hits from techno trailblazer Thomas Schumacher, featuring beats, synths, bass, FX and vox. Following Hed Kandi's recent best-selling opus, the Sample Magic Presents imprint is going from strength to strength, and Thomas Schumacher - the man with a mighty respect for the Moog - doesn't disappoint. On a more tawdry note by far, it's time for the next title on our new SM101 label, this time in the shape of SM101 Dubstep & D&B Patches. Programmed from the ground up by long-time SM friend and programmer Steve 'Hedflux' Young, this is about as twisted as you can get from NI's Massive. Dirty leads, blistering basses, floor-shaking wobbles, savage stabs, vast pads and insane FX are the order of the day. Just watch those bass-bins!
And there's lots, lots more going on. New course dates announced: Secrets of House and Music Business

After the sell-out success of our first run of courses at the award-winning Alchemea Music College, we're back with another set of dates that are already filling up fast.
On the weekend of the 5th and 6th of November both the Secrets of House Music Production and Business of Music courses will be running concurrently at Alchemea College with our sterling SM tutors Bruce and Richard.
Once again, we're packing more in than ever. Our usual Saturday evening breakout session will for the first time allow students on both courses benefit from the expertise of both our tutors for the first time ever. Both classes will come together to chat about music, the industry and more with the SM tutors in an extended evening session special - including demo doctor with the full SM team.
With these new courses we've strived to surpass our quality standards once again - offering more content and more impeccable industry and production knowledge at the same competitive price.

So here's the story: we decided one blurry night some time last year that it would be fun to release three great collections in the space of six weeks in early 2011. It's been hard work... we've had the very best of our sound designers working all hours to deliver ever-better samples. But the work has been well worth it, and today we're delighted to announce the second of three, the mighty SM23 Dubstep.
Combining underground club workouts with anthemic arena-sized sounds, SM23 Dubstep delivers 585+MB of pounding 2-step rhythms, cone-quivering basslines, searing synth leads, monstrous music loops and more.

The reviews keep coming in for SM20 Electro.
Music Tech handed it the cherished 10/10 star award, saying: "This is a stunning collection of immaculately produced hooks with detailed production and a high level of polish". "For anyone writing electro, jackin' house or heavy indie electro," they concluded, "this is an essential purchase that's chock-full of inspiring and club-ready loops. World class".

New from SM: DemoGod

We've always been about giving producers the musical and creative tools to create great tracks across an array of genres. But what happens when you've got a track that you've nailed? How do you get your music into the hands of the right labels - and the right people at these labels? We've tackled the problem head on in our first venture into the App world, with DemoGod, The A&R Database.
The DemoGod EDM edition is an App that allows you to search over 700 dance music A&R contacts for details of how and where to submit demos. Included are email addresses, Soundcloud Dropbox details and postal contacts for a huge number of the world's biggest labels. DemoGod covers labels releasing House, Electro, Techno, DnB, Breaks, Dubstep, Chillout and Trance.
As you can probably imagine, putting together an App like this was a *big* job. The research alone took close to three months. But the result has been well worth the effort: a genuinely huge database of A&R contacts that we'll be refining every month to keep it current. And it's cheap: we wanted to make it a no brainer of a purchase for such a tool.

Soundtrack & Chill: Shipping & Reviews

SM17: Soundtrack & Chill is now shipping on DVD from our London HQ. As ever with Sample Magic DVDs, it's free shipping worldwide using our priority Fedex service.
To coincide with its physical release, it has been garnered with kind words from both Music Tech mag and the boys over at Rekkerd.org.
Music Tech notes the "heartbreakingly beautiful collection of somber piano riffs" in the "very smooth and warm-sounding library that avoids the digital coldness often found with purely digital processing paths".
"The quality is consistently high," the review continues, concluding that SM17 is "An intricate and beautiful... collection of manipulated chillout loops."
