What payment options do you accept?

What is your refund policy?
We will refund your full purchase price on any purchases BOUGHT FROM US when you return the product in its original shrinkwrapped packaging. We cannot exchange or refund where you have accessed the sounds on the CD.

What happens if my discs are damaged or lost in the mail?
We will reship orders FREE, no questions asked. It is so rare that we don't mind resending discs if need be. Same goes for damaged discs. We want you to be 100% happy. If a disk is damaged however, please send it back BEFORE opening the shrink-wrapping - we can't refund or replace any item once this seal is broken.

Can I download your libraries digitally?
Yes you can. All Sample Magic products are sold as full digital downloads from our trusted digital partner, www.soundstosample.com.

I have bought one of your CDs and want to buy another. How well will the sounds work together?
We go to a lot of effort to ensure loops work well together across releases. Unlike some sample CD developers that throw together a load of sounds in random tempo groups, we take care to keep tempo groupings similar across titles so that, for example, a house producer can find 125bpm drum loops in Funky House Grooves, in Breakbusters (for more electronic sounds) and Transmission X (for your ultra-weird breakdowns). We also keep our naming conventions the same so that you always know where you are and what you’re dealing with.

What exactly am I actually buying?
When you buy a Sample Magic CD, you are NOT obtaining OWNERSHIP of the sounds - you are in fact purchasing a LICENSE to use the sounds within your musical compositions, whether or not your compositions are released commercially. The license is non-transferable, so if you are using an illegal copy of the product, you are not authorised to use the sounds. The original producer of the sounds will always remain the OWNER of the sounds.

How can I use the sounds?
You may use the sounds in combination with other sounds within your musical compositions. You may release such compositions commercially without payment of any further fees or royalties for such usage. For example, if you are the original purchaser of Funky House Grooves and you used sounds from it to create the soundtrack of a television commercial, simply by combining a drum loop sample with a guitar loop sample, and the TV advert was broadcast hundreds of times, you would keep all the royalties that the advert earns you, because you already purchased a private license to use the sounds commercially. You cannot use the sounds in isolation (i.e. when not within musical compositions) as part of a commercially released project - for instance you cannot use the sounds to make another sample CD or multimedia sound library CD-ROM.

Can I use your sounds to make library / production music?
Absolutely. Just so long as you follow the guidelines above - i.e. you use the sounds within your own compositions - that's fine. Our samples are there to be used!

Who else can use the sounds on the CD that I have purchased?
Nobody, unless they also purchased the same CD from brand new. Only the ORIGINAL PURCHASER of the CD has the right to use the sounds commercially. This means that you CANNOT SELL or give the sounds to anyone else. If you do, and they use the sounds within a commercial release, they will have to pay royalties to Sample Magic for using the sounds. You will also have broken the law.

Do I have to credit my use of the sounds on my album sleeve, etc?
You don’t have to but it would be appreciated - and some CD producers make it an absolute condition within their user license. If you have any other questions about usage or licensing, please contact us.

Do I have to buy a license to exploit the free samples on your website?
We provide many free loops and samples on our website so that you can make a truly informed decision before splashing out on a full product. We don't ask you to register to use these sounds and hope that you make as much use of them as possible. However, if you are planning on using any Sample Magic sounds in productions that are to be sold or released then you will need to buy a license to use them. This means either buying the full physical or digital product from which the free samples are taken.

What if a school, college, studio or other institution purchases a CD?
The licence covers the release of original tracks using the sounds and produced by the establishment or studio name -individual names can be added. If an individual within the organisation wishes to use the sounds as produced under his own name, that person must purchase another disc in order to obtain a licence agreement.

I'm a sample producer - do you ever hire new producers?

I’ve got a question you haven’t answered!
No problems. Just contact us and one of the team will get back to you ASAP – usually the same day and usually within an hour or two. Ask us anything – except why we’re not making bog-standard sample CDs.
