Who are Sample Magic?
Sharooz Raoofi - Co-Founder - Sharooz is a DJ/Producer and sound designer with over 30 releases on labels such as Ministry of Sound, Record Makers, Instereo and Audacious Recordings. After a brief spell as a product manager at Warner Music, he established a recording studio in London where he has worked since 2005. He has remixed a wide range of artists from Dylan Rhymes and Dave Aude to more mainstream acts including Moby, Craig David and Howard Jones. His tracks have been aired on BBC Radio 1 and Galaxy FM, picking up plays by DJs such as David Guetta, Moby, 2 Many Djs and Pete Tong. As a DJ he has toured the USA and Europe, appearing in Russia, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Serbia. He has also written and produced works for motion picture and television commercials via a publishing agreement with EMI Music Publishing.
David Felton - Co-Founder - Dave is a publisher and music producer. As a writer, editor, designer and print manager he has worked at the BBC and for publications including the Guardian and Sunday Sport. As Jake Island he releases on Toolroom Records, where he has remixed Mark Knight, notched up airplay on BBC Radio and Galaxy FX and featured on a string of compilations, including Hed Kandi. He writes music for motion picture and television for Boosey & Hawkes and KPM and is the editor of Sample Magic's debut book, The Secrets of House Music Production. He splits his time between London and his south coast Brighton studio.
The Sample Magic philosophy
We DON'T:
• Sell "join the dots" style construction kits. C'mon, where's the fun in that?!
• Give you emulations and samples from virtual instruments – we always give you the real thing, played by top players and we believe it makes a difference.
• Overcook our sounds, compressing the life out of them and overdoing the reverb - unless we're after a specific effect we keep it dry so you can do the creative stuff.
We DO give you:
• Sample-accurate 24-bit files – always – so you're working with pristine quality from start to finish.
• A variety of ready-encoded file types and formats, so you spend your time making music, not cutting and pasting samples.
• Cutting edge sounds from foremost producers in the genre, so your production is up there and upfront with the best of them.
• What YOU want - We listen to our users and respond to all emails and discuss all requests.
