Who are Sample Magic?
Shahrooz Raoofi - Co-Founder - Sharooz is a DJ/Producer with a string of releases and remixes under his belt. He has worked with acts such as Moby, Robyn, Mylo, Kings of Leon, Craig David and Howard Jones, and releases on leading dance labels such as Dim Mak and Sunday Best. His frequent DJ schedule has taken him all over the world. As a sound designer he has worked with Steinberg, Propellerheads and FXpansion - among many others. He is a published songwriter signed to Universal Music Publishing and EMI, with tracks appearing in EA Games, MTV and Sky Sports to name but a few. Sharooz is also co-founder of the Beatport-owned Sounds To Sample and the record label La Bombe.
David Felton - Co-Founder - Dave, as Jake Island, is signed to Toolroom Records where he has remixed Mark Knight and been remixed by the likes of Grum, Manuel de la Mare, Crazy P and Fred Everything. He writes production music for Boosey & Hawkes and EMI and has designed sounds for Sample Magic, Sony and Sounds To Sample. His parallel career has been in on and offline publishing with posts at the BBC and TUC and freelance work for The Guardian and Sunday Sport. He is editor of the best-selling Secrets of House Music Production and The Producer's Manual books. Dave is also co-founder of the Beatport-owned Sounds To Sample and the record label La Bombe. In his free time he writes thrillers.
Barry McManus - General Manager - Barry is a DJ, promoter and musican who co-runs the Snap Crackle and Pop club night in London, hosting the first ever UK shows for Crookers and The Bloody Beetroots. He has DJd in Europe and the USA for the Snap Crackle and Pop brand whilst continuing to curate their London residencies. Barry plays bass in up-and-coming three-piece Bullet Proof Vest, currently recording their debut album. Barry is general manager at Sample Magic and A&R for the La Bombe record label.
Francesca Bergami - PR & Despatch Francesca is a singer and published songwriter. She graduated in Psychology at Goldmsith's University London and performs in the Johnny Cash tribute band 'Cash'. She is currently writing her debut album as well as collaborating with various songwriters and producers. In her free time she enjoys photography and is writing a book about mental health and creativity. Francesca takes care of PR, marketing and administrative duties at Sample Magic, as well as managing the despatch department.
The Sample Magic philosophy
We DON'T:
• Sell "join the dots" style construction kits. C'mon, where's the fun in that?!
• Give you emulations and samples from virtual instruments – we always give you the real thing, played by top players and we believe it makes a difference.
• Overcook our sounds, compressing the life out of them and overdoing the reverb - unless we're after a specific effect we keep it dry so you can do the creative stuff.
We DO give you:
• Sample-accurate 24-bit files – always – so you're working with pristine quality from start to finish.
• A variety of ready-encoded file types and formats, so you spend your time making music, not cutting and pasting samples.
• Cutting edge sounds from foremost producers in the genre, so your production is up there and upfront with the best of them.
• What YOU want - We listen to our users and respond to all emails and discuss all requests.
